Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enroll my child in the Academy?
OCA requires completion of an application to the school. The child must meet eligibility criteria based on scores from developmental assessment. If the child is younger than 3 years old, they must be in the Early Steps program under a Family Support Plan. If they are older than 3 years old, they must have had or be scheduled to have a developmental assessment completed. This can be done through the Child Find program or we can do it onsite. If a child already has an active IEP they can be considered for enrollment. For more information, please contact Dot Kirkland or Donna Nobles at the Academy 863-679-3338.
How can my child get therapy?
We require physician prescriptions to order complete physical, Occupational and Speech-Language evaluations and treatment. If the child attends Our Children’s Academy they will receive their therapy during the school day. If the child does not attend our school, they can be scheduled for therapy through Our Children’s Rehab Center. For more information, please contact our Children’s Rehab Center in Winter Haven at 863-294-1429.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge to attend Our Children’s Academy as we are a public charter school. For those receiving therapy at the school who have insurance, we do bill the insurance company for authorized therapy services.
